stamped concrete:

Stamped concrete is a process of finishing concrete and giving it a desired pattern or texture by impressing into wet concrete.  Typically large rubber mats are used in this process.  The contractor has several of the mats, he places one mat on the concrete surface, steps onto it, impress the pattern with a rubber mallet and then while standing on  his first mat he gets a second and the process is repeated.  Stamped concrete can be colored many ways: colored in the truck, using color hardener, release powder, antiqued among others.  Stamped concrete should only be done by a professional cause there are many ways in which a person could ruin it.  If your handy and insist on doing it yourself the only pattern I suggest is a seamless slate pattern.  This is by far the easiest concrete stamp to use.  I also suggest that you buy a couple of training videos.  The training videos can be found at www.murraydecorative.com .  The people out at decorative concrete supply are there to help you.  If the process seems a little to challenge for you , you could always do a decorative concrete overlay.  Information on the can be found at www.decorativeconcreteguide.com , or a step by step guide can be purchased down below.
